Starting August 1, 2026, Colorado requires eligible purchasers of certain semiautomatic firearms to complete state-certified training before they can buy. This 4-hour course is only for individuals who have been verified by their County Sheriff’s office as having completed and qualified under the Hunter Safety training requirement. This course meets the requirements of Senate Bill 25-003 and will provide instruction on firearm safety, safe handling, storage practices, responsible firearm ownership and Colorado laws. Upon successful completion, students will receive documentation showing that they have completed this course and can purchase the firearms listed on SB25-003. This course is classroom only and you are not required to bring a firearm.
