Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) Training
Trigger Time Gun Club’s Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) class {formerly known as Pistol Basics} complies with the requirements of Colorado HB24-1174, which, beginning July 1, 2025, mandates an applicant demonstrate competence with a handgun by completing an in-person training class taught by a verified instructor.
This class is not appropriate for new or never shooters and is not intended to be a ‘how to shoot’ class in accordance with the State of Colorado laws.
In order for you to receive your CHP Training Certificate you must: 1) attend the full eight-hour course, 2) pass the written test, and 3) demonstrate proficiency on the live fire test/target results. You will then provide this certificate, along with any other information that your County Sheriff requires, when you apply for your Concealed Handgun Permit.
Please confirm with your County Sheriff prior to class attendance to make sure you understand these new requirements and processes.

Our Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) Training class is hosted by NRA certified instructors who are verified by Colorado county sheriffs in accordance with Colorado House Bill 24-1174.
What to Bring:
-Government Issue Photo Identification with full legal name (Drivers License or similar)
-Note pad and pen for Notes or phone for taking pictures of presentation.
-UNLOADED Handgun in a secure carrying case. Rentals are available if needed. Please keep ammunition in a separate case.
-50-100 rounds of new ammunition that is not reloaded. No steel case or steel core ammo is allowed.
-Magazines for your firearm - two or three are optimal.
-Eye and Ear Protection
-Lunch is not provided, however a 1 hour lunch break will be scheduled for about halfway through the class. There are many restaurants and drive throughs near us at the I-25 Colorado Highway 119 interchange.
Please note: cancellations within 72 hours of the class will result in a 50% rescheduling fee unless we are able to fill the spot on the roster.
